ARROW - Sins of the Father

Sins of the Father was an epic episode. More solid than Unchained. Lots of cool sword fights and fights. Subsequent to Nyssa’s proposal to Oliver last week, he had to find a way to play diplomacy to try and avoid bloodshed as long as he could. That, of course, did not pan out as smoothly as he hoped but in the end Thea is saved, hooray!

I was glad that there was no long unnecessary suspense of Felicity trying to figure out that her dad is the Calculator. It came out just straight and as expected a leopard doesn’t change his skin. It was sad to see Felicity quite heartbroken because well, he’s still her dad and I thought it was really brave what she did handing her dad to the police like that. Our girl is tough.

Malcolm Merlyn undoubtedly loves his daughter but I would have been surprised and questioned his worthiness of the Ra’s Al Ghul title if he went down without a fight (or fights in this case). Pretty decent sword fights in this episode and the Nyssa training session was brief but I enjoyed it.

Personally, I think Oliver Queen’s abilities are being quite exaggerated here. Nyssa’s been training to be a soldier all her life. She’s the daughter of the demon for GA’s sake! Oliver’s had just how many years training and Nyssa knows she can’t defeat Malcolm but Oliver can? I don’t buy it but hey, I’ll let it slide along with the other things we just try not to overthink less we find fault. Malcolm finally really explained the importance of the league like how big their influence really is which will help take them seriously as just some brainwashed group of arrow and sword-wielding ghost members in dark robes not afraid to jump to their deaths at the command.

Thanks to Nyssa though, the league is no more. She released all its members to roam free. I think that is a bad idea. This is a whole league of savages she just gave freedom to. I honestly don’t think those guys even know what to do with their lives if left on their own but then we’ll see.

It was mildly hilarious every time I heard Nyssa refer to Oliver as her husband and Thea as her sister-in-law. She says it with such straight face, I find it really laughable. It was really nice to see how much Oliver and Felicity have grown together that they are really open with themselves (Oliver’s going to ruin it though: WILLIAM!)

Ah William! Malcolm is just some fifty shades of d-bag with him going to tell Damien about William like that. Not so surprising though, that guy takes pride in revenge and it will be some wishful fantasy to hope he wouldn’t retaliate and do it really bad. Now we know to definitely cross Thea off the possible grave candidate list and to boldly replace that with William. Poor William, the sins of his father seems to be about to come knocking at his door.

The episode on a general note was great and quite enjoyable, don’t you agree? What did you think?

QUOTES FROM SINS OF THE FATHER

Oliver: I don't know how much you remember of my father but he was not a good man. He threw in with Malcolm Merlyn and all of that being said, there is nothing that I wouldn't do to have him back. So, you tell me… how am I supposed to take that away from Thea?

Malcolm: I've been holding off telling you this for years, Oliver. You're very handsome... not especially bright

Reiter: ...Mr Queen is an important piece of my endeavor on this island. You will stay with him until he's well. If his health gets worse, you will join him in his fate

Mama Smoak: People don't change... even if you want them to
