IN THEATER THIS WEEK DECEMBER 23

Merry Christmas folks. 2013 is almost over but it is still around for one last collection of great movies scheduled for theatrical release this week; 7 more movies to be precise.

It’s Christmas day on Wednesday and Hollywood celebrates this festive day with us with 5 awesome movies: 47 Ronin, August Osage County, Grudge Match, The secret Life of Walter Mitty and The Wolf of Wall street.

47 Ronin is an action-adventure-fantasy movie that follows the story of a group of samurai on a revenge journey to avenge the death of their master at the hands of Lord Kira who also banished the group. The movie is directed by Carl Erik Rinsch and it stars Keanu Reeves, Rinko Kikuchi, Tadanobu Asano and Hiroyuki Sanada.

Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts come live on screen in theaters this Wednesday in a comedy-drama movie directed by John Wells in a story about the lives of the strong-willed women of the Weston family, whose paths have diverged until a family crisis brings them back to the Oklahoma house they grew up in, and to the dysfunctional woman who raised them. The August: Osage County’s theatrical release poster looks like chaos. It should be fun.

Grudge Match is a sport comedy film starring Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone centered on the story of a pair of aging boxing rivals who are coaxed out of retirement to fight one final bout -- 30 years after their last match. The film is directed by Peter Segal.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is an adventure fantasy drama film directed by Ben Stiller and it stars Ben Stiller as Walter Mitty. Walter Mitty, a day-dreamer escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a world of fantasies filled with heroism, romance and action. When his job along with that of his co-worker are threatened, he takes action in the real world embarking on a global journey that turns into an adventure more extraordinary than anything he could have ever imagined.

The Wolf of Wall Street is a biography crime-comedy drama that tells the story of a New York stockbroker, who refuses to cooperate in a large securities fraud case involving corruption on Wall Street, the corporate banking world, and mob infiltration. It is based on the true story of
Jordan Belfort, from his rise to a wealthy stockbroker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government.  The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Belfort, along with Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey.

After these great movies theatrical release on Christmas day, Lone survivor and Labor day are released to theaters on Friday.

Lone survivor is a war film directed by Peter Berg based on the failed "Operation Red Wings" mission of SEAL Team 10's  on June 28, 2005, to capture or kill a notorious Taliban leader, Ahmad Shahd during the War in Afghanistan. The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster, and Eric Bana.

The drama film, Labor day tells the story of a depressed woman, Adele and her son, Henry who offered help to a wounded fearsome man, Frank, who as it turns out was an escaped convict from the local prison and as the police search the town for the Frank, Adele and Henry's options become limited gradually as they learn about his true story. Kate Winslet and Josh Bolin portray the characters of Adele and Frank respectively.
